35is Z4 log

Post by E89lust » Sat Jul 31, 2021 3:37 pm

Hi Everyone,

Here is my Z4 E89 35is I bought at the end of March. Since owning her I've replaced the salmon relays as a preventative measure, installed a stubby antenna, carried out a major service including spark plugs and brake fluid and put a full set of Michelin pilot sport 4s on + 4 wheel alignment. I also took out the BMW extended warranty. She lives in my garage and has a ctek charger keeping her happy during the rainy days which there have been far too many of for my liking! Next thing I've got lined up is a two stage paint correction and ceramic coating to be installed by a detailer in Northampton I've used before and would recommend. https://www.instagram.com/epiccarcare/

Anything else I should do please let me know

The car is a 2016 model in grey with canberra beige interior which I love and compliments each other especially with the brushed aluminium trim, so thank you whoever specced this car originally. It had 20700 miles when I bought it, she's now on 23000, we went on our first proper road trip in June down to Cornwall where I got to open up on some great roads, what's better than having the roof down too which was exactly why I bought another Z4, I previously had a Valencia orange 18i manual in 2014

I spent a while trying to working out which options were optional from an old z4 booklet:
Standard options for a 35is
Metallic paint
2TC Seven-speed Double Clutch Transmission (DCT)
2VF Adaptive M Sport suspension
521 Rain sensor with automatic headlight activation
459 Seat adjustment, front, electric with driver memory
481 Sport seats
563 Extended lighting
775 Headlining, anthracite
7XA M Sport leather steering wheel with uni-directional gearshift paddles
6NN Bluetooth hands-free facility
654 DAB digital radio

Optional extras
493 Storage compartment package
508 Park Distance Control (PDC), front and rear
544 Cruise control with brake function
494 seat heating
430 Exterior and interior mirrors – folding, automatically dimming (apparently the car has this but my mirrors don't fold when I lock the car is there a way to turn this on? or does anybody have some info on this?)
387 Wind deflector (apparently this was optional)
677 Loudspeaker system – BMW Professional
609 Navigation system – BMW Professional Multimedia
6NH Hands-free Facility W. Usb Interface
620 Voice control
2MV 19" M Double-spoke style 326 M (recent service showed no cracks)
4AD Brushed Aluminium interior trim

Oh, you’ve still got it, I thought you’d decided to cash in on the buoyant market in 35iS’s :poke:

Car is looking good and the changes/improvements you’ve done already are  particularly the tyres and the stubby (DON’T listen to enuff, as John says his vision can sometimes be impaired for other reasons that’s one of the reasons he thinks the whippy looks better )

Ceramic coating will make keeping it looking good easier, especially when it comes to bird sh!t

Glad you decided to come back

I've still got it don't worry! I was too busy enjoying the car and had been meaning to make a post ever since I bought it. I have a deposit down for the Lotus Emira so will be selling it at some point unless I can talk the partner into having the Z4 instead but it's "too flashy" for her apparently

I can't wait to get the ceramic coat on, it already gleams now prior to paint correction, the Michellin tyre's were a night and day improvement. Glad you got into your G29, looks great

Given the waiting list on the Lotus, you’ve plenty of time to convince her to keep it  The Lotus is nice but we’d miss the roof down motoring.

Yes, very happy with the G29 and adaptive cruise take things to a different level but I’ve not had time to play with all the tech yet so I’m sure there’s many other great features
