That's a nice touch ..the silver doesn't suit the 35 in my view..

Looking good, I was sitting behind a white Boxster last night and that had the hoops body colour coded, I thought it looked good and might be something I'd be tempted to do with a couple of other little things on my list.

Wheels next, but I accidentally bought M3 front control arms so it may be a month or two!
Hoops look good  Are they easy to take off ?
Pretty easy, just need to unscrew the wind deflector brackets then I used a plastic trim remover to pry the hoops off. They're held on with ball press clip things, not sure what they're actually called, but gentle, gradual prying all round and no breakages.
 Cool Thanks I'll deffo give that a try they look miles better than the silver std.

Pickster, here’s where the ball/sockets are placed. I found it easiest to start inside the hoops and start at the bottom and work up on ball at a time on alternating sides until it only leaves the one at the top

Oh and a trim tool if you have it rather than a screwdriver

The hoops look good and looks like a fine job. One tip about painting in a shed, garage or garden, get a large box and put the piece in the box and spray and then cover with a lid of some sort. That way the piece won't be affected by wind or by insects / dust / dirt whilst it's drying.

Also interested in know what paint you used. Did you sand down the covers before you painted? I had a bad experience with some black gloss spray paint I got from Halfords... the finish was matte and it peeled so easy so wasn't sure if it was the paint or my rubbish job painting them.

Sorry, didn't notice the last two posts! I used hycote gloss black, with a hycote primer underneath and a hycote clear lacquer to finish. I think a good even coat of lacquer is the key to making it look good. The finish isn't as perfect as it looks in the photos, but that's down to my (lack of) skill rather than the products and I doubt anyone will ever notice apart from me.

I didn't sand down before painting. This paint will definitely not come off easily, as I discovered when trying to remove attempt number 2!

I wouldn't say it's an easy job if, like me, you've got no experience of this kind of thing. It took me 3 attempts plus a new set of the hoops themselves after really cocking up the originals on the 2nd attempt. Bit of fun if you like a little project, and the worst case scenario is you have to buy new hoops at 30 quid each.

I'm now trying out some blue brace covers behind the front grill, will leave them on for a week or two before I decide whether to paint them. First impression is they look a bit too hot hatchy, but I'll see if they grow on me.

I think they look ok but can't decide if they take away from the overall look. How about a photo from a little further away?

You can't really see them from further away, not in the photo I took anyway, sun on the wrong side...
