Stage 3 manifold

Post by Malooga » Mon Jul 19, 2021 10:25 am

Hi, anyone fitted a stage 3 manifold?
Is it worth it?
Is there a certain make that’s better than others or is it a complete waste of time. I know it’s not for a massive increase in hp, but I came across this mod on the net and wondered if anyone has done this.

It might help if you say which model e89 you have? :?

Stage 3 manifold

Post by JamesClements » Mon Jul 19, 2021 12:06 pm

I think this only applies to to the non Si 2.5 E85's and earlier M52 engine BMW's where it was a very popular mod. As far as I know the six pot NA E89's (23i and 30i) came with a 3 stage intake manifold from standard - although not sure on the manifold configuration on N20 E89's - probably better off with a remap anyway if your looking for horsepower gains.

Cheers

Did you mean the inlet or the exhaust manifold?

Sorry Rob that it’s took me a while to reply. Exhaust manifold but now you’ve mentioned it which gives better air flow, inlet…exhaust or both.
Note my complete lack of knowledge. :D

You have to be careful as i think that some of the manifolds are designed for l/h drive cars & won’t fit UK cars as the steering column gets in the way.

Thanks Rob. To be honest looking at most of the articles I’ve seen have come from the U.S. market
