Hi all ,
I’m going to invest in an autophix unit ,
Does anyone know the significance between the bmw specific units , ie 5900 , 7810 , 7910.
They all appear to do the functions I need , but the price difference, seems to indicate maybe more functions than I can see !
So is it worth paying for the more expensive one or just the cheaper 5900.
Will they all read roof codes and PDC faults , they all seem to do EPB reset , which I now need .
Any advice is much appreciated.
Andy

Hi Andy,
I have the 5900 and it suits my diagnostic needs, but I have not used it for roof codes.
To be clear, it will wind back the EPB for pad changes if that is what you mean. However, if you have the issue with the failure which seems to occur with flat batteries etc, then I do not believe it will reset that? Don't want you to misinterpret the list of features and end up disappointed.

Hi , Zed
Yes it’s for the parking brake retraction, I was just wondering what the point in paying for the more expensive models.
Looking good for a 5900 then !

Well I have to say, being an IT luddite, I find it very clear and simple to use. I would recommend it, solely on the grounds that the cleverer models would probably be beyond my understanding anyway.

I'm fairly sure in my research I'd seen someone say they had used it to read a roof fault code, I'm not one for splashing out on a tool that's only half any use to me and when I bought the e89 and needed a reader to code the battery and winding back the epb my first thought was I would want want that would pick up roof codes if needed to further into ownership .. Im 99‰ sure it was recommended here on the forum by someone that had bought it particularly to help diagnose a roof fault and was successful with it for that which led me to buying itSV8Predator wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 10:09 pmDoesn anyone actually know if it will read roof codes?mr.tourette wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 11:07 am I've not needed it for roof codes so far, Im quietly confident it will pick them up but can't guarantee it
