Hi Gents,

Was wondering if you guys have updated the ecu software on your cars. If so what's the reason ?

Thanks

There were various revisions to the ECU s/w..I've not climbed a learning curve to proffer any advice on this (yet! )..

I know when the tuners were stuggling with my Celtic tune they re-flashed it to a later update of the 20i ECU firmware as a starting point.

I've just loaded ISTA/P so will have a look at that..I think you need to get an update from a BMW factory server..but will check..

Given that sumotan was previously asking about remaps, would a software update erase any remap that has been installed?
HQ of 'Norfolk Zed Rescue'.
Always happy to help if I can.

If the forum helped you, why not help the forum back. Thats the Z4 way!

Yes a firmware update would reset all ECU tables to their default values..

Thank Gents , clever boy enuff_zed, lol. This is precisely why Im asking as I've got issues in trying to read the ecu with Powergate 3 from Alientech, Alientech suspects the issue could be my ecu not being updated. Guess you hit the nail Pete if this is the case what can I do about it ?

Thanks again

I think on the N20, looking at what the tuners had to do, was that a pigggy back jumper had to be added to re-flash the ECU..I'll check and see what I can find..

Plugging it into ISTA/P and updating would be the easiest way. Any BMW specialist or dealer should be able to do that for a small fee if you don't have the tools at home.

Thanks again R.E92. Btw where I'm at the Bmw specialist is myself Lol. All need to self learn to maintain the car hence my gratitude
towards the existance of this forum & wondeful members for sharing.
Most ironic thing is we've got Bmw, Mercedes, Lambos, Ferraris, Maseratis, oh even Bentley & Rolls here & yet no official dealers etc.
For the high end car crowd I know that they invite technicians over from Singapore to maintain their cars etc.

Cheers

Hmmh Business Class plus 3 nights in a 5 star hotel plus paying for my quarantine MAY prove not cost effective for Sumotan..but I'm willing if he is?
