+1 on that from the Fens. I have it on good authority that these vehicles also have a handbrake, although I don't understand it's function.

Hill Start Assist - - My car don't have it ?
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

What is the consensus for the e brake removal procedure on a hill?
Press accelerator, until bong, then release?
Or
Release and press accelerator? (May roll back?)

My driving instructor told me to find the biting point of the clutch then release the handbrake. Never had a vehicle roll back in 35 years. It's not really difficult, is it.Deepseaskateboard wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 11:19 am What is the consensus for the e brake removal procedure on a hill?

Yeah, thats the technique I use, but always get a bong.Pondrew wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 11:26 amMy driving instructor told me to find the biting point of the clutch then release the handbrake. Maybe because they don't have auto release, they are a bit over zealous with the warnings. I noticed for the first time the other day that if you have the handbrake on and the door open (with the engine running in neutral) and press the throttle the ebrake bongs for that tooDeepseaskateboard wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 11:50 am Yeah, thats the technique I use, but always get a bong.

Indeed the version on the MR is one of the few annoying things on the car. Still drives me nuts some times after 10 years, when it locks and unlocks like a drunk kangaroo, as you try to reverse off the drive using gravity. For hill starts, moving forwards, the car has a strange mechanical device called a handbrake. rendering the so called hill start, on the MR, a total waste of space. IMHO.

Exactly the reason i didn’t like it on my 3.0si, using gravity/momentum while manoeuvring in my works car park became a lesson in frustration!buzyg wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 1:07 pmIndeed the version on the MR is one of the few annoying things on the car. i Had the feature in my manual F11 Bmw 5 series, and in my Rav4 diesel with Bmw 2.0D engine.
Here we have a lot of hills, and it does help in some situations.
