Hi all ,
I have a 2014 35i , now looking at my rear pads, I have around 4-5 mm of pad left on them .
I’m figuring it’s replacement time . It’s not had any fitted as yet, and is on the original set . It’s covered 33000.
My questions are , how do I tackle the e-brake, is it something I can do without a scan tool or do I have to go that route.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
I’m going with standard bmw , unless anyone knows any better , I’m all ears
Andy

Rear brake pad replacement.
Some scan tools will wind the piston back for you and re - seat it afterwards, not sure whether it can be done manually to be honest, I use an autophix 5900..other tools are available
if its got tits or tyres..its trouble

It can be done manually, you do not need a code reader and is very easy; even I did it! As long as your ebrake doesn't automatically re-apply itself when you release it (mine doesn't it's a 2013 4 pot).
I watched a you tube video of how to wind the piston back on the motor but IT WAS WRONG for my car and could have caused damage.
As I know from your help with the microswitches, you are more than capable of doing this.
Your 35 has different calipers and discs to mine, but I bought TRW discs and pads (front pads are low dust and they really are) from Autodoc. Full set of discs (mine are 300mm vented front and rear) with black painted hubs which look good, TRW pads and wear sensors (didn't use them as managed to save the old ones) for £277.00 delivered. The TRW are very good quality and after 1000 miles still look brand new.
Just found the invoice: rear pads £47.00 for both sides

All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

Hi , I would prefer to go with a code reader , as I’ve not had experience with a good scan tool , I’d be willing to purchase one I’ll post a new topic on that and see what comes up .
I’ll try the autdoc for pads over the next week

Just be aware that delivery times (it all comes from Germany) can be long if you buy from them.
