Car insurance renewal

ATM I'm with Direct Line for the Zed and the Yeti. Pay just over £220 for each, PNCD 9years, legal cover, on driveway. Renewal came in and the Yeti increased by a tenner and the Z4 went down by the same amount. I'd have thought that would have been the other way around??!

Quoted £10 less with Adrian Flux and interestingly they don't add anything for the remap. Also waiting to hear back from Chris Nott and they've said they expect a load of between 10 and 25% for the remap. Hard to believe a "specialist" Z4 insurer has to charge extra for a fairly common mod

Thats where I am for the Zed at £202 an the Yeti seems reasonable as well - not certain I would bother switching :D

Yeah, the guy at Chris Nott said that quote was already pretty good, but I make a habit of checking other quotes for all my renewable utilities and insurance. Very rarely do I end up staying with a company for more than a year or two

Seems sensible to me - I am happy with £202, means I can insure 2 cars this year for the price of just the zed last year :D

I find it strange that the Yeti, that's worth about £3000, is about the same price as the Zed that's worth 4 times more and is about 3 times the power :?

Depends if it has more mileage on it - if you 12k in that it will bump up prices, I have a corse on 10K and its £300 so how the hell it works, who knows :o

Z4 is £172.00 p/a for me with declared remap. Wife as main driver (46), me as named (53), with LV. 4k mileage, social and commuting for her. Protected NCB, no claims and no convictions in ten years. We live in centre of town (not a high risk town obviously).
Got a multi-car policy with three cars on; all are cheap as chips.
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

F31 320i. Good car.
E89 20i Now fully dried
Z3 'free litre'. Project and a half. Complicated!
Mazda3 sold
Tatty old R56 Mini Cooper. Money pit!

I can't recommend Chris Knott highly enough. Thankfully I've never had to make a claim but in all my dealings with them their customer service has been exemplary.

Prior to joining them my car was on a 'run of the mill' policy with a hefty excess and insured for whatever was considered 'market value' by their team of tasty underwriter's.

Chris Knott directed me to a classic car policy (who knew you could insure a Z4 this way?) and I couldn't be happier.
My renewal came through this week at 216.00 fully comprehensive which includes an agreed valuation of 12k and a very reasonable excess of 100.00. NCD is not applicable to the policy either so I took my 15 years or whatever it was and used it on my everyday car.

I should add that I'm not in any way affiliated to Chris Knott Insurance

Im with LV through Chris Knott. Last year premium was £700 ish including breakdown cover. (37 yrs old, 6 years no claims bonus). I guess it's down to the London postcode that's so expensive!

Would have lost my no claims this year when someone hit me in the car park if it wasn't for the dash cam !

that's cheap and I will be going multiyear this year as well, they must realise two people and three cars one is not going anywhere at some point :D

LV have been aggressively targeting the "average middle-aged driver with a good history" market for a few years. There is a downside (isn't there always); their excesses tend to be pretty hefty, which isn't a problem unless you claim :)

After seeing that LV could be a cheaper option, I spent 10 mins on their website trying to get a quote for the Zed..... only to be turned down as my job doesn't fit in with their acceptable profiles!!
I'm a part time self employed courier and drive like a vicar in the van, but I guess they think we're all Hamilton wannabees and drive like tw@ts

I had a similar problem years ago when I had a part-time job delivering online shopping.

I can't remember which insurer it was but it was a "no quote" from one that I tried.
