Hi I went to the fuse box with a hardwire kit which was fairly easy

Fuse box was a pain of course but looks good

That looks small and neat.
Are you able to get power from the mirror/courtesy light area, or did you go all the way to the fusebox ?

Turns out with time the connection between the camera and the GPS base gets loose and hence the constant switching on and off.
I've got the 119 in my wifes car, three years & going strong. In my car also never had any problems with the 129. The only thing I didn't like is the way the power needs to be connected when using the 'hard wire' that is smart enough to start / stop the camera on car ignition & battery voltage availibility: it needs to be connected to the cam to work, rather than to the GPS base. (visible on my picture b.t.w.) I've got all the wires cleanly routed in the car & this would have made it even better. Otherwise, very happy with it!

I have had three 119 cams, which I believe are V2, for four years now. One hardwired to my zed, experiencing only summer temperatures, has been working flawlessly all these years. Two hardwired to the daily drivers are exposed to more harsh temperature conditions tend to act up at temperatures below -15˚ and occasionally do keep rebooting, below -25 they usually fail to start but recover once the temperature rises. One of them does not nowadays recognise ignition when the car is cold, and needs to be booted manually, but it’s in a diesel BMW and probably only caused by the glow process and aging car battery. One had problems with the gps base, with a broken pin. To sum up, these V2s have been pretty robust.

Yep I saw your photo again and noticed that you have the cable connected to the camera and not to the GPS base. Mine is connected to the GPS base and with time the connection between the GPS and the Camera weakens and causes the camera to keep switching on and off. When connected direct to the camera it's fine but if the GPS connection is not good I would imaging when connected this way I would not be getting any of the GPS features. I've got another GPS base, so I am going to install that hopefully this time it won't give me any problems.

Good to know, I am going to install a new GPS base so hope I have no more issues.

Mine is behind the mirror on the passenger side and to be honest I've not really noticed the flashing apart from when I am messing about on the passenger side.

I will take some pictures and upload later today

So I’m about to purchase a Nextbase 322 & hardwire it but before I do a question to those of you that have hardwired a dash cam

Does it drain the battery if you don’t drive it regularly?

I don’t drive my Zed every day & being a teacher there is the possibility that for 12 weeks of the year it will literally sit on the drive whilst I am driving the family car during school holidays. I don’t want to hardwire it if it’s going to bugger up the battery 🔋

I did simple, just run usb cable to arm rest usb socket.
My Viofo is barely visible attached to mirror trim.

I have mine hardwired and it does drain the battery a little but the hardwire kit that I have for my Viofo comes with a battery saver where it basically cuts the power to the camera once the battery voltage drops below a certain point. You can adjust it between 11.8V to 12.4V. This way there is no danger of completely draining the battery.

I have a guy coming round tonight to hardwire this … I hope he’s good 8)

Would people like me to photograph the process so that there can be “How to” hardwire a dash cam using the fuse box provided the guy doesn’t mind & makes a decent job of it?

I would appreciate it if it were possible and your guy is agreeable to being thrust into the limelight :D

Cheers!

Not a 322 but a 312 fitted in mine, piggy back fuse 8 and and the power goes as soon as the ignition is turned off.

Fitting is not difficult but just a bit fiddly when you get to the fusebox
