Mid-life crisis car?

Post by Owdgit » Fri Jul 09, 2021 8:51 am

Until the kids grew up and left I never had the opportunity or funds to justify a 2 seater convertible so if that makes me a MLC then so be it.
Always used to look at the more mature people in 2 seater sporty type cars and think the same :D
My wife wanted to buy me a personalised reg something like Z4MLC
I've always managed to keep a motorcycle so really don't think of it as a MLC car, it can't compete with a sports bike, it's just another lovely toy.
I like to think I'm an optimist.

Well I drive for fun.
You people started it back in the 60s with your MGAs Truimphs, Healys and Jaguars. They went away so I went German ... Porsche, Bmw. My most memorable was the Jaguar XK140MC... absolute kick-ass car in its era. Still being raced in Vintage. Also must mention great drives in Corvettes and early Alfas. Throw in some Royal Enfield and Norton Commando runs. Plenty of track time at Watkins Glen road course and others in a 500 H.P. Supra and some 458 Italia Speciale and rent a racers. Believe it or not the 35I reminds me more of the Ferraris as a responsive comfortable easy to drive-fast car for the street.
How about a Whole life Crisis and mid 80s age and Third Childhood to boot. See you on the Tail of the Dragon (Google it) and I don't care if you are a hairdresser. Life really is too short for that crap.

When I bought mine last month my neighbour told me that it was a hairdresser's car but he didn't find it so funny when I told him that my hairdresser drove the same car as he did :)

zriha wrote: Thu Jul 08, 2021 8:32 am Well, I have 38 on my back, living with my girlfriend (no kids yet), I don't know how mid-life crisis will look like, but I drive from 18, I had several Mazda MX-5, Elise, Grand Cherokee, I drove drift challenges with Ae86, and now I have Z4, a Mini and Vespa... I don't know how mid-life crisis looks like. :D :D
I would tell you what a mid life crisis looks like if only I could remember that far back :D

Cars like the Z4 might could be seen as a mid life thing, but there are a lot of young people in them as well - Motorbikes however do seem to be in the codger domain! It seems most bikers are grey haired or baldy!
You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

Good Point. Most Harley riders here are over 50 . Harley Davidson is concerned about running out of customers. It is like that with Corvette drivers as well. Instead of hairdressers they are the grey haired gold chain wearers, in other words affluent mid life crisis.
I wish this was never brought up. . So easy Hanging labels on people without knowing a thing about them.

I saw three fellas each of them on newish BMW 1200 ‘s the other day - having a great time. All knocking on a bit and enjoying life!

Whereas cars can be justified as transport requirements A big posh bike is probably only ever a big boys toy!

if i've been running fast 2 seater coupes and convertibles my entire time driving, does that mean my mid life crisis car will be a vauxhall zafira? though unless something drastically changes in the near future, can't see us ever needing more than 2 seats. :driving:

I was always a sportsbike guy, but my current bike is a supernaked.

I don’t think I’d be here to tell the tale if I’d had a bike in my younger days!
