Mid-life crisis car?

Post by zxy » Thu Jul 29, 2021 10:23 pm

I drove by the lighted showroom one night, saw something, stopped, went back, walked in, bought it. IT was a new Porsche Speedster 356a. Black. And yes it was the fifties. It only cost $3,000.00. Payment was $75 dollars /mo. (Dollar was strong, Mark was weak) Drove the wheels off of it for about 5 years. No one knew what the hell it was. Everyone wants one now. Just saw one in Florida for $250,000
I did that sort of thing many more times. They often were cars that no one wanted at the time. sometimes they were free cars or close to it.
The E89 is my substitute for the BMW 507 which I almost bought new but missed out. It was $7000 then there was the Ferrari Lusso, also $7000 but o nevermind....

I'm now in my 41st year of riding bikes and have very few grey hairs I'll have you know!

I was always a sportsbike guy, but my current bike is a supernaked.
Blimey, never really thought about how long I've ridden bikes, similarly, I've been riding bikes for 43 years, I do sometimes wonder about stopping due to the amount of traffic, road conditions, policing etc. then I go out for a ride and remember why I carry on :) :D
I like to think I'm an optimist.

Mid-life crisis car?

I'd go back to a 20 year old shopping trolley car rather than give up the bike, if that were the choices.
Do continental shifts so nearly all the time I'm out midweek when the roads are quieter, rarely ride in groups these days either as there is always one whose ego dwarfs their skill and competence levels.
Abstinence is fine, in moderation.
