ihadablackdog wrote: Thu Apr 29, 2021 8:24 pm A few weeks ago the car in front of me drove off the road and down an embankment in the trees because the traffic in front panicked when a blue light came towards us (panic = stop!) and this poor sod had no option but to rear end her or go left, quick reactions.

I stopped along with others and he was ok and the other people had it in control so I left.

I caught it on my dashcam and looked in the local (Devon and Cornwall) force site and they have a specific link to send footage.
 driving so close to the car in front that he had to drive off the road when they hit the brakes?!
Yeah, it did occur to me that he was either too close or wasn’t concentrating, either of which is probably the case but I do think he was unlucky as I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a concertina effect of someone a few cars ahead hitting the brakes hard.
Sorry I was probably a bit harsh on the bloke there, he wouldn't be the first person to be taken by surprise when the traffic in front comes to an abrupt halt unexpectedly.

Things like this are a good reminder for all of us (me included) that you never know what might happen around you on the roads and it's best to be cautious. Unless you have a clear road in front of you, the roof down, and a straight six to play with...

Perhaps under some multi storey car park?

Any follow up on this?
I would be interested in what the paintshop had to say.

Has the problem been resolved yet - or have you just accept that it happened and moved on?

So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

Pretty sure the op posted he was going to let it lie and after the initial anger decided life was too short to get embroiled in a dispute with neanderthals

You could always upload the dash cam footage on your local police site and let them deal with it.
https://www.nextbase.com/en-gb/national ... ty-portal/
Choose your Police area from the map provided.

I have never used this nor would I endorse its use but if the MPH is true and there is a possibility of prosecution for dangerous driving I would be satisfied.

If you publish it first it cant be used by police.

Just read all ten pages of this and also agog as to any outcome.

I for one certainly would not have been letting this lie, the complete and utter contempt this cockwomble showed for both car and owner needs addressing imho.

No good after the footage has been publicly broadcast as you said- I can’t see why but that’s the rules I suppose.

My car went in for a small bodywork repair recently, and I just remembered this thread so I checked my recorder.
I know the shop owner has 2 places but I assumed the car would be repaired at the place I dropped it off, but it wasn't.
The two places are only a few minutes apart but I found this, they used their flatbed.....and left the ignition on, very handy.

Two things to note, the owner is a friend of my wife, and Japanese are generally honest

Something I noticed though, no timestamp in the video, although time the file was created is in the file, need to check.
