22 MPG in my 2.0
So i filled up my car the other day, I've covered 80 miles and I've just over half a tank left !! at this rate I'll be lucky to get 180 miles out of a full tank. My MPG is showing 22, when i first got the car i was at 28,29 or 30 for 6 months

Wow! Assuming you have not just bought a new pair of lead boots you have a bit of an issue there.
What is the performance like? Does it feel like the handbrake is dragging?
Are any of the wheels very hot when you stop? Just wondering if there's a brake binding?

Doesn't feel like its dragging, all the calipers seemed ok when i changed the brakes disc and pads, wheels turn freely. Maybe feels like ive lost a little performance. I guessing injectors

Hi, i have the same model and around 30mpg + is what i would expect. When its safe to do so, hands off steering and does it pull to one side or the other? 2nd the idea from enuff of checking for unusually hot wheels...you can also get a temperature gun to achieve a more reliable indication. Do they spin freely if off the ground? If you've worked on the brakes might be more than a coincidence , good luck

6 gallons of fuel ..that's around 240 kilowatts of heat if it was going into the brakes, so at say 44 miles per hour, that's 80 kilowatts going into the brakes over a 1 hour period.. mmh toasty..

Going slightly off topic, what sort of driving do those MPG figures represent? i.e. city, motorway, mixed etc? With regards to your issue I assume you haven't changed where or how you drive over this time? e.g. a mainly flat area to a hilly / mountainous area?

I've got a 2016 20i, I normally get around 27/28 bimbling around London (with an occasional bit of fun when I see an emptyish road).
My economy drops to 25/26 if I use sainsbury's supermarket fuel (Morrisons is around 24/25).
I get 27/28 with Esso standard 28+ if I use their premium 97 RON or Shell's good stuff.
Could it be the fuel?

Just driven 500 miles of motorway driving 80mph more or less no traffic jams. I have the 23sdrive manual version and with driver only and some light luggage. I averaged 32mpg (UK driving) in mixed urban driving I get 28-30mpg.
If this helps you judge your car?

I always use the cheapest petrol I can find. My 2.2 did over 40 on a run and my 3.0 does well over 30 on a good run and just under 30 around town.

I bought a 2017 2.0 auto in May. I've had an average of 34mpg over the whole 3 months with mixed driving. Looking at the numbers on here, I'm pleased!

So then, Leek78, no-one can shed any light on your potential issue, but you have at least discovered that everyone else's fuel consumption is much better than yours.
I assume you have no smell of fuel, strange puddles under the car, starting problems (leaky injectors) etc?
