Royal steering wheel refurb - great decision!

How hard is it to remove the wheel please ?

Hi, it was really easy (I'm no mechanical genius), once you have disconnected the negative on the battery leave the car alone for about 30 minutes, I also dropped the windows and opened the bonnet just in case when I disconnected the battery I inadvertently shut the boot lid (did this on a previous exercise ). Took me seconds and was really surprised, you then have two plugs to pull apart (one for airbag, other steering wheel controls paddle shift etc.). There is one bolt holding the steering wheel on, once removed you can see the marker at the bottom of the spline (means you can put it back on squint ). I was surprised how easy it was and didn't need my emergency team to come and put out airbag warning lights etc

No problem , have a look at their website more options are available, if the car was a more dynamic colour like Pbondar's or clarker63's I would of have had the thread colour to match, like they have done.

Excellent choice and worth the effort. It's the bit you see and touch when driving and a shiny, older wheel spoils the moment...

Mine has the Audi-eque flat bottom adaptation too, for fat thighs..

Just got mine back from Royal, great job and simple swap. Only challenging bit was locating the spring clips to release the airbag, well worth the cost. I used the deposit and return option so didn't have a few weeks without wheel

Seeing this prompted me to look for a kit on AliExpress. Last time I checked, they didn't make these for the e89.

I fitted one to an Our e83 run-around a year ago and was very impressed! Still looks as good as the day I fitted it.
Not quite up to the standard of Royals, but at 10% of the price its worth a go

I sent an email and then had to ring them, they are just very busy, small business that are just very good at what they do. It took them two weeks to refurb mine and during that period they weren't taking on any new jobs due to the amount of orders they had, guess everyone thought, can't use the car so I'll send the steering wheel away to Royals. I know at the moment they are shut until the 29th, all I can say is well worth the wait

Quite pleased with the result for £20.

That lucks very good,I would be very happy with that.
I ordered mine through AliExpress,they are putting the delay down to lack of flights due to Covid 19.
I have not done one before,my wife is good with a needle and thread

Thanks. I'm pleased with it!

The sewing part is quite easy. The cover arrives pre stitched, so you don't actually sew into the leather as such, just loop through the existing stitches.
The most difficult part is lining it all up correctly - took me a few tries.

That looks OK for £20. For a vehicle you care about I would certainly spend the money and go with the Royal Steering Wheels option but for a shed you don't to spend money on that's pretty good.
