Orion “Silver” - Essex based

Must have some Orion Silver owners on here. Simple question, what colour is it? It appears to be anything but silver from the photos of cars on sale that I have seen.

In reality is it primarily champagne, gold or even metallic beige, rather than genuine silver... or does the colour not lend itself to photos very well?

This topic discussed an Orion car as a possible purchase (car nothing to do with me) Go to post 9 and the link takes you to an Orion one. Reason I’m suggesting this one is it probably gives you the best pictures to show the colour which is champagne/gold not silver

I’d considered another Orion one but couldn’t make up my mind on colour based on pictures until I saw this...........then it was a definite no.

Interestingly the car in the link is still for sale. It is one of the cars that I’d seen online that prompted the question. I was hoping the colour was more silver than the photos show, clearly it isn’t. It’s a no from me too.

I’m guessing the colour is why it’s probably still for sale. If you like it other than that you could alway go in with a much lower offer and considering wrapping it. The mileage and FSH makes it very tempting.

Colour is a very personal thing and I don’t particularly like this colour and if someone had said about buying a brown one I’d have said absolutely not but having seen a couple of Havana Brown Z4’s it’s be a high possibility I’d buy one if the right spec came up when I was considering changing. There’s something that looks quite classy in that colour IMO.

Interesting thought, what would a decent wrap for a Z4 cost?

Here they were quoting me around 2 to 3K euros if I remember correctly, that was for PPF.

EDIT: For that kind of money I could get a top of the line colour change paint job here!

To be honest I’m not sure but I’m sure [ref]Beedub[/ref], could give you a ballpark, if not exact, figure.

without reading back... expect a high quality wrap for around 1650-1950... Film choice dependent.

OK thanks - I wonder then how difficult it would be to then sell on a car that has a wrap that’s a few years old?

Are you seriously considering buying the 30k car in orion "silver" & wrapping it ?

You will still have problems selling it. Personally I know many like this modern fad of wrapping but I just don't get it (apart from maybe PPF is some strategic locations), can't get the logic of putting pieces of plastic on some beautiful paintwork. In this case I think it's best to move on and find something else.

Not really seriously thinking about it, more thinking aloud. The car in question is a bit of a bargain if it stacks up with the ad, 2 owner 30i, 30k miles and FSH for sub£9k.

Just happens to need different wheels and to be in a different colour, one of those is easily cured the other not so much. If it was blue, black, proper silver or grey etc it would have sold long ago (to me probably)

I would like to see this colour for myself in the current sunny weather. Anybody on here own one that’s based in Essex that I could have a socially distanced look at on my way to my daily exercise? I am based on the outskirts of Braintree.

I have to say it does look good value. When I checked the VIN the spec was decent as well.

Looks like the latest price drop to £8600 did the trick, it’s finally been sold.
That's a really good buy for someone. I know the colour is debatable and not one I would particularly choose for a E89 but I did own a Jaguar S Type in a similar shade and always liked it.

8600 GBP is cheap for an 09 with that mileage and spec, you couldn't even buy one at auction for that price. I suspect if it had a cream or dark brown interior rather than red it would have gone a lot quicker. Obviously whoever has bought it doesn't mind the colour combo and as result have got themselves a bit of a bargain, however when the time comes to sell they might have to sell it for a bargain price once again.
