Dear All,

I’ve had a look back through threads discussing bike racks but they all seem to cover E85/6.

I’m trying to sort something out for my E89 and wondered what people have managed to set up? I’d be carrying two road bikes.

I’ll eventually give up and find something that fits my girlfriend’s Yaris but it’d be nice to take the E89 if we’re heading off somewhere!

Yep, the Sarris Bones will fit virtually any car. Great piece of kit had mine years.

Thank you, both of you, that’s made life so much easier now that I know they work!

I imported the Birds bike rack, works very well!! It's the only way not to compromise being able to use the roof when carrying a bike due to the hardtop mechanise. On the E85 I just had a cheap and cheerful bike rack.

That looks ideal-- concerned about strapping/weight on boot lid with complex roof mechanism. Had a saris bones RS2 for my e46 330ci convertible but that puts the weight/load by 4 pads.2 rest on the actual top of the boot lid and the other 2 against the rear panel so all weight on boot lid. Also if over eager can actually tighten enough to make the top of the boot lid bow upward, bottom bracket fits under bottom edge of boot lid in lid/bumper shut gap.
The superbones looks to take the weight on the back bumper.
What's your experience been like- only going to use to carry one bike
Thanks
Ken

hi Ken,

I used it for two bikes, it is strong enough to take the load, even at high motorway speeds, didn't move a thing

I can only suggest it

I've used the saris bones 3 on both our E85 and the E89. Only issue on the E85 is you can't get in the boot obviously. On the E89 as others have said you can't use the roof either unless you remove it. To fair it's not that arduous to do but you wouldn't want to get caught in a sudden rain shower.

I know it's the wrong section but has anyone tried a bike rack on a G29?

Has anyone tried an e-bike on a Saris Bones? Or are they too heavy?
