Three score and ten Insurance

Hi Just wondering if any owners around the three score & ten mark can recommend an insurance company that caters for mature drivers with clean record, and offers sensible rates. Like most companies they start of reasonable and then escalate year on year, what happened to loyalty. I am at that stage so looking around . Any suggestions ?

Can't answer that but keep us in the loop Baza as to how you get on with this.
And yeah, it's a sad fact that loyalty = idiot this day and age. They take the piss out of loyal customers. I found out my 82 year old dad was paying £200 a month to Aviva for home and contents because he never challenged them. I went bonkers.

Hi
I'm not far from that and am insured with Saga, who seem to be advertising a three year fixed price deal for over 50's. I have not had my renewal yet but look forward to seeing what the quote will be.

Hi Phil Likewise I am with Saga just had my renewal £392.50 (this without telling them yet I was a naughty boy and just picked up 3 points for speeding 4mph over the limit) last year 349.46. This just for one year I was asked to contact if interested in 3 year deal but it depends on nothing changing. As we are building a new house my location and insurance details will change so probably not good idea at the moment.

I paid Saga £380 this year, Im 71 and touching wood, have a good insurance record, yet every year they jump the cost - Every year I bellyache and get the price down.

As said by many before, they don't respect loyalty when they send out their renewal quotes.

I recently got my 1st free prescription, so getting on a bit now.

I was with Chris Knott for 3 years, but what started at £325 in 2016 became £343 in 2017. 2018 renewal was even higher, so I called them and got it done for £360. For renewal this month they wanted £391!

I ended up calling Churchill as I got a good price from them for my 330i in April. They quoted £337, even with the non-standard cat-back exhaust and different wheels declared - result.

I also got a very good quote from ClassicLine which had an agreed value option, but it was a "future classic" policy so they don't give NCD and if you don't use it for 2 years you can easily lose it so I wanted to avoid that. Probably OK so long as you will always have a classic of some sort, but I can't see that far ahead!

When you’re young car insurance is high because of your age.

When you’re old car insurance is high because of your age.

We can’t win!

Keep in mind it's almost impossible to get a recommendation on price as there are so many variables.
Perhaps the rapidity of response to a claim would be a better measure.

Well Saga said with the penalty 3 points I acquired in Dec last the cost would be £480 ( bit of artistic licence I think) but they would reduce it to £400 or £420 for a 3 year deal (subject to no changes in my circumstances ) I assume that growing older doesn't constitute changes. LV through a broker offered £373 . As I am 77 its probably not a bad to stick with Saga and take there three year deal at £20 per year increase for the next 3 years. I am sure I would face a bigger increase on a year by year basis.
