You don't need comfort for this option, I think its standard. the most common reason appears to be not enough charge in the car battery (or the roof shelf is not properly closed, but you've checked that right?). Your holding the open button down for a long enough time? Took me a while to realise this. Also could you put the roof down even without starting the car?

As per clarker63’s reply I’m sure that it’s because your battery is low or most probably the shelf isn’t clicked down securely in place in the boot. Additionally I’m sure comfort access refers to Pressing the Up button on your fob twice which lowers your Windows giving easier access when you get in or out.

I don't think it was standard on earlier cars. It's never worked on the '09 and '10 models I've had. Hence the market for the SmartTop module. I think the facelift cars had a different (stronger) lifting mechanism, which is why you could lower the roof while moving and open from the remote from the factory.
what year is yours OP?

works on my e89 2009 "poverty" spec'd car...(I say poverty because it had cloth seats - ever seen one of those? no idrive, cruise, 17" standard wheels etc). If it was on mine, then it was standard!

don't worry mine doesn't do it either! (but is should do), spoke to my local BMW dealer and they said that they would need to look possibly at the keys and reprogram them?Steviep351 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2019 3:12 am Hi Guys,

It was the shelf in boot, hadn't clicked down.
