Absolutely gutted for you stuartt, I loved that car when you showed me it on the test run .... can only say, I hope you find something as nice to replace it with ( that won’t be easy) but ,as others have stated, you both came home un injured thank god .might be worth looking into buying it back as a few have said?? So sad to see that gone forever....

You don't know me stuartt but I am truly sorry for your loss! I'm genuinely flabbergasted that they have written that lovely car off. :(

Somebody pranged into a car I had several years ago - I’d only bought the car a few weeks prior - there didn’t appear to be massive damage but the car was also written off.
I went thro the panel prices etc with the body shop manager and was gobsmacked at the prices and is was then so obvious why it was an insurance loss.

I eventually took the settlement figure but was contacted by the new owner who’d bought it and repaired it!
So it can be done!

Ouch, sorry dude. this sucks. i know how you feel.

I went through exactly the same with my Mrs and the C63. Took it out quickly for a last run with her to get it washed before new owner collected it the next day... Sunday driver undertakes a stopped queue of traffic down the inside on a bus lane, hits a driver crossing the stopped traffic .. both slammed in to little old me waiting at the junction.

Two cars were able to drive off, mine was a 18k repair (thus write off).

Upside - i had an agreed price for sale, so insurer just paid me that - not a huge amount of haggling required (one lowball attempt, i just stuck to my guns). When some random guy calls asking about the value - thats the person who has the authority to offer money and get that offer approved by the insurer.

In all honesty i didn't have to provide any proof of sale.

It seems that these cars are very fragile- or is it down to the price of parts, paint and labour?

Both ronk - crumple zones and crippling parts & labour prices

This also puts them into an area where they can be cobbled up and flogged onto somebody.

Again thanks for all the well wishes. and sorry to hear of others that have been in the same situation

The insurance company have been in touch today and offered me an amount i am comfortable with so have accepted their offer.

Once the money is in the bank i shall start my hunt for a replacement perhaps chuck some more at it and upgrade to a 35is which wasn't on the horizon for a few years but as the opportunity has arisen why not grab it by the horns.

Went and took the last few bits out of the car this morning and still can't believe the rebuild estimate but its going to salvage so keep an eye on CoPart and someone might well bag a bargin.

I’d be buying that back and I’d bet you’d get that back to the same level for under £3k with some smart shopping. Did they give you a buy back price?
