Contrary to the op original statement easily sourced, if you type the part numbers into google several suppliers pop up...around £125 for main piece and £35 ish for the diffuser piece plus 3 clips and screws..voila...

A supplementary question: How easy is it to paint one of these yourself? Is it a false economy or is it fairly cheap/simple to get my hands on a can or 2 of gloss black paint and have at it?

Not done it myself, but I have seen posts other people have done painting various bits and pieces, and it doesn't seem hard, but maybe I'm just a bit naiive.

You need to make sure your bottom is nice and shiny with no blemishes!
