Easy to remove...
Using a trim tool prise up the gear gaiter from the edge, and pull upwards (doesn't come off, doesn't need to).
Using trim tool prise the edges of the console up to free it.
Feed gear surround back through the hole.
Disconnect all plugs and it's free.

Installation is simple, just reverse the removal process.

I wrapped my E85 interior and wasn't planning on doing so with this car but this thread has inspired me. I had some bits of vinyl lying around..

It's a damn sight easier on the e85 though!!

I've been wanting to do the 3M di-noc carbon fibre wrap on my dash too. Looks good. Doesn't have that high-gloss finish that, imo, looks cheap. Definitely a big improvement on the aluminium carbon trim.

From the OPs post I was actually wondering how it was wrapped over the leather part, but I guess not all trim options had the leather covering? For example in my pic above there's "leather" on that

It looks good. Do you know anyone who has had it in place for a long time to see how it stands wear and tear?

Yeah not all come with leather sections, mine was (as in my post on page 1 of this thread) all silver plastic originally but I was lucky to find a pair of half leather panels that needed some attention so they were ideal for wrapping :D

I wrapped the inside of ours with similar looking stuff and it was on for around 3 years before I removed it. In the whole it still looked good but a few parts the wrap had shrunk and small bits of silver trim was showing at the edges. This may have been how I applied the wrap and possibly not what would always happen. When I removed it I had the pieces hydro dipped instead.

I wrapped the interior plastics in my E46 and it still looked good when I sold it a few years later.

It looks so good. What wrap did you buy? How did you get all the trim off?

Cheers. Removing the center console is simple compared to the e85. Get some pry tools under the metal plate and slowly work your way round lifting it. Takes just a couple of mins but you've then got about 6 connectors to disconnect, some of which are fiddly if you've got big hands like me.
