Rough idle and injector cleaner

It does make you wonder especially when there are companies that recondition injectors.
Maybe all they do is clean them.

I am absolutely certain my injectors were leaking which is what can cause the rough idle, as the spark plugs get wet because of the excess fuel in the cylinder.
Admittedly mine were not leaking too bad, as it only ran rough if stood for more than two weeks.
But I am also convinced that either the premium fuel or the additives, or a combination of the two, cleaned what ever deposits were causing the leaks

In which case I believe its definitely beneficial to run our cars on premium fuels
When mine failed they got stuck open and fuel was pouring out of the exhaust pipe. :fuelfire:

I don't think so but the warranty rectification involved 12* new injectors, 6 new plugs, 4 new cats and 4 new O2 sensors.

They replaced most of that trying to chase down a problem with a misfire which turned out to be caused by them not installing the decoupling elements on the injector. So they had to replace the injectors twice.

Just had 6 new plugs fitted and three of the old ones from one bank were pretty coked up. Still think the old girl is running a little rough but not so much as anyone not driving her regular would notice.

Use Shell v power fuel and just wondering if an additive may help to clean out possible fuel injector issues.

Any thoughts and recommendations re product would be appreciated

Hmm...additives. All smoke and mirrors in my opinion. Marketing hogwash.

Techron PEA Concentrate Plus Petrol Fuel Injector System Cleaner

I assume this is the one you used? Looked it up on amazon and several places are out of stock but will find one and give it a try.

yes that's the one
then followed it up with this in every tank full
as its a lubricant I think it helps the injector seals
It deffo cured the issues I had experienced

I pop a bottle of injector cleaner into every last 25% of fuel in each tankful. That way they get a nice soak in a strong solution while the car is parked.
As for snake oil, well there are regulations preventing false claims on advertising in the UK so it must do something.
Might be worth doing the old google shuffle for test results if you think its that interesting...

At £16 a bottle not sure I will go that far but will give it a go and see if it makes any difference. From the research I have done one every 3,000 miles appears to be the norm.
