Is it just me that prefers the earlier indicators? Theyre more discreet and just there to serve a purpose.
They don't bother me much either although I have tinted ours so they are no longer white.
I don't really want to add any chrome to the car and if I was to put the newer style on they would have to be painted.
have you got a picture of them tinted?
how did you tint it please.

Took them off and used a few coats of Hicoat lens paint and then clear lacquer over the top.
I only tinted the white part and left the clear side bit uncoated.
They are not the brightest when indicating but has been fine at MOT time.

Very nice mate.
But for the love of all things Z, please get those side indicator blobs updated.

Still can't believe those were ever designed into a car like the Z.

:o
how do you change them, I ordered them, is a video available, do not what to break anything, :headbang:

Gents

Seriously, they look like they were not quite finished designing them and it slipped their mind until production day when they chose to put what looks like blanking plates over the hole where the side indicators should be!!!!!

I'm all for healthy debate...........

Dellboy

Open bonnet, long handled screwdriver to pop the clip which is on the inside of the wing and pull out gently.

New ones need a small plastic wing removing like an extra bit from an Airfix kit, plug in and insert into hole where they self lock. BMW spec tape holds the long piece in place.

Hope that makes sense, took me about 10mins for both sides.

Job done sir.

And then you can have a lovely little bit of chrome covered plastic on the side of your car to go with ........ the badges that should be removed.

As opposed to a shapeless piece that some of you feel the need to disguise by badly painting over it...........

But hey each to their own.

Yep. Thanks for the dig about badly painting, I am not a painter and these were done quickly one afternoon but you are the only one to comment. It doesnt look great in the close pic though but is actually alright.
I do agree though that from the factory its a bit odd to stick an opaque white square on the side of the car and hope that it goes with all colours. The only car it would look good on would be a white car where it would be hidden. Thats why I tinted ours to hide it a bit.
The LCI indicators dont do it for me, they should have kept it clean and left them in the badges like the E85.

I am flattered if slightly concerned re your stalkerish behaviour in reading my previous posts in no way connected to this topic. Had you spent just a few seconds more of your no doubt invaluable time and read them properly you would realise my comment was that I had seen them advertised, not that I had purchased them.
Fair play to anyone who has them, that's their choice.

Back to topic if I may, how many owners with Lci indicators have gone backwards and fitted the early blob indicators????

I'm sure the deafening silence will prove the point.

No Diy bodger here........

Calm down dear, I remember your post about the wheel centres when you posted it and as you were also from Scotland I remembered it, no stalker issues here.
We just have a difference of opinion over something that can be changed and all I pointed out was that they could be tinted instead which I think looks better than white. It might not be a completely professional job but as I said nobody else has commented and it looks worse in the pic.
Why would anybody go back to the old style after spending money replacing them?
Im not sure what you mean by deafening silence though....... or DIY bodger.
Anyway now that you have mentioned previous posts I had a look at yours, where are the pics of your car?

Yeah I'm with you, I think the new ones look like they are straight from Halfords and look like plastic tat ..I much prefer the original ones
Couldn't have put it better myself
