New Pop Up Screen Fitted

Well BMW have just fitted a new pop up screen, they call it a CID unit (Computer Information Display!!), I had trouble where my last one didn't always close or go fully up, so done under warranty so a happy bunny

What are the main differences / advantages between CIC and older screens? Mine’s a 2012 model for comparison.

Does the new screen make a grinding noise when it raises or is it perfectly smooth?
