Recommend best sticky window pad for DashCam ??

Post by step_change » Tue Jan 01, 2019 6:03 pm

Fed up of the dash cam keep peeling off the glass when it gets warm. Can someone recommend a *really* good sticky-as-anything two-sided pad please?
Many thanks!

I gave up and screwed my cam to the plastic behind the mirror. Very stealth as it's hardly seen from outside.

Don't use a pad - use exterior trim tape (I like the 3M stuff) and cut it to size, clean the glass with IPA (isopropyl alcohol) to ensure it's clean & grease-free before attaching

The bit that seem to come off is the plastic of the webcam mount that comes away from the sticky pad. The pad that's mounted to the glass of the windscreen is solid as a rock.

Trim tape will stick to the plastic mount fine - it's made to stick plastic trim to body panels etc. Just clean the plastic surface first to ensure it's dust and grease free, cover the whole surface with strips of trim tape and cut off any excess using a Stanley knife.

That the sort of stuff - but I'd spend a bit more and get genuine 3M tape, I think the last lot I got was 3M 036xx (the xx is replaced by different numbers depending on the width and length of the roll)
