Done you a favour, it's a rapidly falling market & a fool & his money easily parted.
There will be others, they aren't that rare

certainly a good time to be looking, but a tough time to sell.
I was fortunate to sell mine as quickly as I did.
right time, right place.
but was also able to get a good deal on my E89.
got most of the spec I wanted, although I was really only concerned about getting the m sport seats.
the cruise control is there, but don't use it.
nav was not a must have for me.
its not a daily, and the mileage was low, so overall was happy.

At the last information on the forum, there were 435 35iS's in the UK. That makes it - in any condition and with any mileage - quite a rare car.
In excellent condition and with very low mileage, it then becomes rarer than quite rare.
Go figure.

It’s a nice looking car. And if someone is prepared to pay that sort of money for it, doesn’t that just confirm that the dealer had it at the right price? If it was too expensive, nobody would be interested..step_change wrote: ↑Thu Nov 22, 2018 11:44 am I agree. The guy who has bought it has been had at that price, that is ridiculous money.

imho, unless your buying an approved used, where you get a decent poss 12months warranty, paying top dollar from a second hand fred the shed is pointless.
the warranty is usually not worth the paper its written on, and usually covers little unless the engine or gearbox lets go.
buying private gives you a chance to judge the car on face value, and can usually get a feel for how its been looked after,as well as service history, and you can usually strike a deal, especially at this time of year.
what you save over the dealer price will get you a good service and check over.
you would have to be very unlucky to catch a cold on anything to major on a well maintained E89.
I chipped the guy down a 1000 on mine, which allowed me to get a few jobs done.

Fortunately for the traders, people will pay over the odds for perceived peace of mind, which in reality, as most of us know, is often limited at best.djstan wrote: ↑Thu Nov 22, 2018 12:06 pmIt’s a nice looking car. Are you sure you have not doubled them figures up? i.e. both advertised on BMW and Autotrader site

Nope, no doubling up, all the cars on Autotrader and Pistonheads are not on BMW’s own site.

Holy cow!
The cars are SO cheap in the UK! Why?
If you want a 35is or Z4 M here in Sweden/Rest of Europe it's double the Money.
That 35is is so cheap compared to the prices here.
This one is 41.000 GBP

There will be another. As a weekend car the price makes more sense, as you will be putting less miles on it so will hold a bit more of the initial value. Happy hunting.
