2012 35is upgrade suggestions

Post by hapoom50 » Fri Oct 26, 2018 10:08 pm

So, last weekend, my Z just hit 70k miles
No major issue except wear and tear stuff for past 7 years
I'm looking for simple mods I can do, so I can enjoy the next 7
I don't see too many 35is on the street and forum, and wanted to know if there are any 35is owners here with some tuning+mods
Not trying to hit 500+HP, with single turbo, down pipe etc (don't want to melt parts or blow up seals/motor)
Just looking for some easy bolt on mods and the results
Help me out
Thanks guys ;)

Are you still using runflats? If so, dump 'em and buy the best 'normal' tyres you can afford from the cheapest dealer.

A major mod.

Have a crack at robbing the suspension parts off of an M3, the very definition of bolting on (plus an alignment) and it completely transforms the car into something far more enjoyable

Together with getting rid of runflats, fitting Eibach PRO-KIT performance springs (part No 20109.140) together with Eibach Performance Stabiliser Bars (thicker than OEM front & rear ARBs) make a real and very significant difference to the handling! Springs lower the front by about 0.8" and the rear by 0.4" and stability, especially when cornering, is amazing!

MHD remap depends what stage you want to choose. But an absolutely huge difference!

Download it from the app store. Absolutely immense and is the go to resource for N54 engines.

Enjoy!

Agreed on MHD Stage 1 / 1+. Makes a huge difference and the IS (upgraded oil cooler) can handle it with no issues. I'm running Stage 1+ on my stock 35i and never had an issue. Transforms the car.

I also had a re-trimmed steering wheel (Royal steering wheels) which I love and a Quiafe LSD in the back. Both great mods.

MHD is a good shout along with the steering wheel retrim.

The iS has the same oil cooler as the i though.

MHD is an Android app. You can have a tuner make a custom map but if your car is fairly standard then the built-in premade maps are perfect. They will be better than anything you would get from a UK based tuner like Evolve.

The app is locked by vin to your car so you can't share it between users. It's very cheap by remap standards anyway.....

Oh - totally thought the IS has an upgraded oil cooler for some reason.

re: MHD, I bought a £70 Huawei tablet for this reason and it works perfectly well. :driving:
