US magazines give odd stats:

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/hot ... d-259.html

the old 3.0Si at 5.3 secs to 60.

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/hot ... d-259.html

The Z4M at 4.6 to 60!

They consistently seem to be able to get up to 0.5 of a second off the european mag times - I would love to know how they conduct their tests.

However, I'm not meaning to take away from what you're getting at - the new Z4 35 looks likely to be a bloody fast little car, and with that extra torque is likely to worry a Z4M quite easily... and those pictures of the white one with 19" wheels - I'm dribbling again!

Do the euro mags use 0-62 instead of 60?
I`ve heard it is entirely possible for the 3.0Si to do 62 in 5.4 and I expect 4.6-4.8 to be a possiblility for the M, not that 0-60 really means much on the grad scale of motoring.

csmith319, agreed, maybe the boost is turned up a little on the test cars too, who knows. In both cases 0-100 in under 12 secs is pretty fine performance, who needs anything more than in a straight line.

Darren M, yes they use 0-100kmh which is 62mph, I suppose 0-100mph is a better measure of performance anyway.

Not quite a positive review of http://www.caranddriver.com. The most reviews I have read claim the opposite.

> the Z4 yielded a significant amount of body roll and exhibited vague steering (for a BMW).

It sounds more like they drove a version without the adaptive suspension.

Some weeks ago they also test drove the DCT version:
> The chassis is well balanced, and the body motions are always controlled. Handling is predictable...
> The steering is well weighted and direct, although it feels slightly isolated from the road....
> The Z4 moves sharply along twisty roads, but the steering feel and the extreme rearward driving position make for a personality that is more deliberate than darty.
