So to get started, managed to do a suede steering wheel wrap after buying a kit off Ali express. Spent two days stitching it together and all I can say it although it felt amazing on touch and great on the looks. I couldn't keep it on, there were loose bits and bobs and my stitching wasn't great. it was just annoying and me being a perfectionist boy was it difficult. So ama put it out there don't bother unless your paying for it professionally done. tried and tested! and no i didn't take the steering wheel off.

My artificial leather one is coming up 1 year old and is holding up well. Still pleased with mine.

Anyone have peeling "aluminum" trim? all the metal pieces edges are starting to peel away and I get my fingers caught.

I was gonna start a thread for it but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Just send it off to Jack at Royal Steering Wheels, they've done a few for me now and been brilliant every time. For roughly £120 I don't see how any sort of diy retrim can work out cheaper when time is factored in.

Though make sure you really want an Alcantara/Suede wheel before ordering it, my experience of them is that they wear much faster than leather because they're really designed for use in race cars where you always wear gloves, stopping the material from absorbing the oils in your hands.

That said, they are nice when new

Yep, thats happening to me.

I had an alcantara wrap on my wheel for three years. It was great when new but required regular cleaning and started to look flat after a couple of years.

I had it re-wrapped in leather and I'm much happier.

Yep, thats happening to me.

I just found this post about wrapping the chrome trim in alcantara. I might give it a go in an attempt to hide the flaking edges.

Alcantara wears fast but if it’s a weekend car like mine with limited use it will last and with proper care which jack sent me links for after purchase should keep it looking great. As it does now. Was guna spray all the trim and buttons but not guna cheap out and just buy new trims and buttons.

3M DiNoc might be a good option for you to try? - It would match the carbon effect dash inserts on the e85 quite well.

Heard loads of good stuff about it.
