Should I buy some new wheels?

What do you good folks think? Should I just keep these wheels and get rid of the runflat tyres?
Or should I look for some new 19inch wheels and what would you recommend?

Just put some good non-runflats on your 295s. The ride quality of your 35iS will improve wonderfully.

Keep your 295s. They're beautiful wheels, they put some rubber between you and the road, and they don't crack.

Have you considered the style 230? Similar to the 295 but 19" (I believe they originally were available on the E92/E93 3 series - not sure if they will fit an E89 though).

Thanks Andy. A few things to think about before taking the plunge. Quality wise would the Strom be a match for the Veemans?

Yes, I do like the look of the 295s and they are easy to clean. Having swapped from runflats on my E85 I agree the the transformation is really marked. It would be a lot cheaper to just change the tyres. The only thing that makes me hesitate is that the wheels look a bit small for the car imo.

Thanks again Andy. I have sent a message to Steve Smith asking about tyres as you suggested. I saw that Jamie had a set of these 359s for sale. I might pursue that avenue, although the tyres on his wheels would not be the ones I would choose. Plus He would prefer collection rather than courier. When I have more info on the tyres I’ll do some research on prices and compare with what it would cost against Jamie’s wheels with decent tyres on the rears to match the Pirellis on the front.
When I get something sorted out I’ll post some photos.
Cheers
Ian

Lovely looking set of 230s here for very fair money , they are BBS manufactured & would look great on red E89 & also retain a certain OEness  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-19-B ... OSwqXJbbtr~

If you do consider them don't be put off with the Pirelli runflats , both E89s i have owned drove fine on runflat tyres & these are increased profiles from stock 225 35 19 / 255 30 19 so win-win id say

Hi Andy

Thanks for letting me know about these. They do look good. Similar to my existing wheels but will fill the arches better. Another plus point is that the ‘Oberstormfurin’ is quite keen on that design. Happy wife happy life. :)
Just had dash cams fitted to both cars today. Have installed the same ones used by ProfCJJ in June. His write up was a big help.
Let you know what happens about the 230s.
Cheers.

Hi again Andy. Bought and paid for the wheels. Should arrive on Friday. Spoke to the guy on his mobile this evening. I was surprised to find him at his workshop this late but he is going on holiday tomorrow so he’s packaging the wheels tonight. He assured me that there had been no cracking or buckling. Paid with PayPal.
Thank you for all your help and your patience. I read a post recently which described you as a ‘legend’ on the Forum. I can see why.

Kind Regards

Ian

You're welcome Ian , there have been other posts recently & "legend" wasn't the vibe on those :P :D
Anyway glad you got where you wanted , i think the 230s will be a real enhancement to your car plus relatively rare wheel too & i'm sure they will look great on :) see how they sit once fitted , you may feel a 5mm spacer behind the fronts is required but you may not even notice

Are there issues with tyre pressure sensors and speed/distance dials hen changing the wheels like this?
I am tinkering with the idea of swapping mine too.... I especially like the look of the M437 in two tone.

It all depends on the year of your car and whether you have the TPMS valves in the wheel or not.
If the valves just look like normal rubber valves there is no problem swapping wheels and having to replace the valves with TPMS ones.
