Bluetooth Retrofit
Hi All,
I finally managed to purchase a 35is yesterday, but I didn’t not realise it doesn’t have Bluetooth phone connectivity.
I would love to retro fit it, as I hate parrot systems etc.
Does anyone know if this can be retrofitted? And if so does anyone know costs/anyone who does it?
Located in Kent.
Thanks in advance.
George

I'm surprised that it doesn't have Bluetooth phone connectivity; perhaps mistakenly, I thought that they all had this now? Or do you mean for playing music?

OK, so let's see how we can help (if it's possible!)....
What do you have?
iDrive (flip up screen) or Professional head unit?
In the centre console do you have an AUX socket or a combined AUX/USB socket.
See what your answers are then we'll move on

Djstan, I think this is my error. I assume in 2010 no German car manufacturer would produce a £40k car without Bluetooth, that being said Porsche still charge £675 for colour on your center caps!!
Dave,
I have idrive with the professional nav.
I also have HIFI professional with DSP (what ever dsp is).
I have usb/aux in the glove compartment.
Thank you in advance

Do you have the "lumps" that are covered red and the grills where the two blue arrows are?

But it can be retro-fitted, it's not entirely straight forward but it is do'able.
You need to add some wires, a Bluetooth receiver, that steering cowl and a microphone.
Alas I'm out the rest of today but this link will give you most of the info, you just need to transpose it to an e89 instead of a one series....

Thanks Dave.
Reading the link it sounds fairly simple. A mic. A Bluetooth atena and some coding.
I’m sure there will be someone on the forum with the knowledge to do this, as I am the most unmechanically minded person in the world. With the shortest temper when it comes to d.i.y

I was disappointed to discover my E89 had no bluetooth although it had iDrive... AGGGHHH! so I looked at three options:
1) https://www.carcommunications.co.uk/fis ... model-year. This fully integrates with I Drive but I believe the car might need coded by BMW. Your not going to get much change out of £500!
2) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vocomo-Bluetoo ... +bluetooth. I had look at this, it can come with steering wheel adaptor. a lot cheaper but you need to factor in fitting and again it might need coding
3) https://www.parrot.com/uk/car-kits/parr ... -mki-9000- this is what I went for eventually with the steering wheel adaptor (controlled by the buttons on the steering wheel) has iPod connection and bluetooth streaming. No screen (didnt want one) but simple to use and the sound quality is good, downside if streaming music you can't hear satnav or pdc (just turn off via steering wheel). supplied and fitted (including steering wheel adaptor) £200. seeing as the car is only used at weekends this was perfect for me.
While I was pondering on which way to go I used one of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mpow-Bluetooth ... +streaming. Excellent for answering calls and bluetooth streaming and had it fitted on the centre console armrest next to idrive controller £14

If you want to do this mod then I'd suggest getting this as these ones seem pretty rare for some reason.... (and it's a much better price than I paid and I had to get mine from the USofA )

Thanks all for your advice, just an update. I have been recommended a BMW coder/tech installer called DNB retro fits who have quoted £330 for supply, install and coding of
A bmw Bluetooth. So will be as if it came out of factory with it. This allows for Bluetooth streaming too. So I’m fairly happy with this
Price and will be looking to get this installed soon.
