There isn’t a factory option . You’d be looking at one of those phone flip up plastic window things.

Plus this is the e85/6 section.

Thank you Maniac. Meant to put it in the E89 section. Failure down to age and incompetence.

HUD Display for E89

I've got BMWs retro fit HUD in the M140i and generally pleased with it, the display is always clear even in bright sunlight. The only real disappointment is that it doesn't integrate with the iDrive so if you want the sat nav it has to be done via the Garmin HUD App on your phone with the maps downloaded to the App. For what it cost including fitted it's still worth it.

Thanks Tim. I have this fitted to my 330d and agree it works well. I was just wondering if there were any alternatives which might be less expensive.

Any pictures of the retrofit one on an e89?

I know what it looks like, just interested to see what it looks like in situ (i.e does it look ok, or blatantly an add on?).

It was £449 fitted which I think was an offer price at the time but that was 2 years ago now. The HUD is hardwired into the cars CANBUS so displays speed, fuel, torque etc but the satnav you have to use the GARMIN BMW App on your phone which is a bit daft when you have satnav already built in, just a pity it doesn't integrate.

I did look at Garmins own HUD and at the time an American branded HUD which was around 500 quid so more expensive but I found what aftermarket HUDs were available tended to plug into the OBD socket which wasn't an option for me as I have a P3 vent guage. The American one I looked at there were alot of complaints from customers not receiving orders so I kept away. Subsequently found out they went bust.

I think it was you who responded last year when I asked about the retrofit HUD which I subsequently fitted to my 330d. Like you I am satisfied with it. Having just bought a 2010 E89 3.5 is I was looking for something similar. Do you think the BMW one will work in the E 89 without any problems?
