Some Advice Regarding Smart Top And BMW

Post by RustyZ4 » Tue May 15, 2018 5:33 pm

Well I have finally ordered my smart top and my Z has to go into BMW on Tuesday next week as they found under its inspection a leak around the gearbox, so they will have the car a couple of days.
My question is, if I fit it this weekend, will I then have to "switch" it off when it goes in? if I do then I might leave fitting it till I get it back, have to mention I don't own a laptop only an ipad, so I will program it off the PC, then fit it, if that makes sense :D
Z4 Mineral Grey, 28i MSport Auto, lots of goodies
Z4 E85 3.0, gone but now with son :D

Its supposed to be invisible when switched off - when my cars have gone in to the dealer I’ve just made sure that there’s a note on the sevice sheet that a module is fitted and the one touch open / close is in operation.

When I bought the 35is (New ) I had the dealer remove from my 2010 E89 and fit the module into the new car - they didn’t quibble.
You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

Is it a full-blown leak or 'damp' around the sump plate?

If it's the latter, then 2 days is a long time to do an hour's job.

Its a warranty job, so not fussed about how long it takes them, and report says "leak found req investigation" they said the might need it a couple of days, as they will clean it up and see where its weeping from
