Anybody that is booked, in did you have to phone yourself or were you contacted?
And is this anything to do with the recall a few years ago?

I contacted the local dealer once the recall was showing on the dvla site. Can't say if it had anything to do with the last recall. I still haven't had a letter advising me of this recall

Just wondering whether to bother contacting them or wait for a letter.
Don't really want it in a garage needlessly especially as these jobs will be rushed.

Mine has been done. I'll be picking it up in an hour or so. On the phone he called it "the battery recall" again. When I talk to them, I'll ask what it actually involved.

To answer Nictrix - mine was booked in anyway for other work. It was only when I dropped it off at the dealers they mentioned that they will be doing the recall work at the same time. Perfect timing for me really.

Ours has been in for 2 recalls which I am sure was for a battery lead and the vanos bolts.
For both of these we had a letter.
I am wondering if the battery lead recall is the same as the recall that's going on now just that its been extended to cover more cars.

After 8 phone calls and the promise someone would call me back (which never happened) I finally, after advising the receptionist I would wait ( if required till hell froze over) spoke to an advisor, so I am booked in in a couple of weeks . I was told it was an all day affair but after advising I was travelling a fair distance I was given a waiting appointment which would be 2-3 hrs to complete the work. So lets see

When I saw the news I emailed BMW customer services, they confirmed (within a couple of hours) that my car was in the vin range and to contact my local dealer the next day, as far as I'm aware its never been recalled before and I've had it 3 years

Looks like I will have to phone and double check, the online checkers obviously cant be trusted as ours shows as no recall required.
The 2 previous recalls were over 3 years ago.

Recall

There was another recall last year for a flexible disc in the drive train/prop-shaft. I don't think all cars were affected. Mine was also affected by the earlier recall for the battery connector. I don't know exactly how long it took as I dropped the car off in the morning and picked it up in the evening. The flexible disk didn't need changing, no doubt when it fails in a couple of years time it will cost a fortune to fix... :? :? :?

I had my car in on Thursday, took around 1 and a half hours to do they did a complimentary health check with a video as per usual (I assume this was a quick check as all they could complain about is the tyres, didn't check the fact that my roof is playing up LOL) and a complimentary valet (again half-assed and did a clean myself not to mention they didn't vacuum the boot). But its free so i shouldn't really complain

Just picked mine up from Ocean ,as others have said, battery lead replacement. Declined the free valet especially as they mentioned they had over 50 cars coming through today! Had a diesel mini as a courtesy, off the line ok, HUD was nice, seats were comfy. I know it's a mini but damn it felt small inside, much smaller cabin than the Z

Does anyone know what exactly is replaced. I was told mine was completed today while it was in for something else. Nothing looks any different in the battery and main fuse area.
