Potential Z....
Hi all,
I’m back in the market for Zed as a few years have passed since I had a E86 which I loved and probably sold too soon!
Am looking at 35i or 35is, probably up to around £15k. Drove a 35i today and seemed enough for me so it’ll now come to the spec.
I would appreciate some expert views on the below! The spec seems very good but quite strange.. non M Sport but spec’d up with sports seats, DCT, adaptive suspension and lots of other goodies... heated seats, heated steering wheel, professional nav. What is the difference in appearance between non M and MSport?
Seems well priced, albeit mileage is high. It hasn’t sold for a while, what do you think is the problem!? I tend to change cars fairly often so don’t want something I can’t shift should the need arise!
Thanks in advance!

Actually just realised I don’t think it has got adaptive suspension... thought that was the ‘up/down’ Sport/normal’ button on the center console but that appears to be on all zeds. Is that right? If so what does that adjust?

If it's dosent have adaptive suspension then the sport button quickens the throttle and gear change.
Don't think not having adaptive suspension is a great loss, they are prone to leaking are expensive to replace and in sport mode give a very hard ride if the car has run flats

Thanks for the info.
Any views on this zed and price? Do you think the Non M Sport spec will make it harder to sell?

Sorry I can't really help with price for an E89, but non M-Sport spec wouldn't bother me as it has the M-Sport seats which for me would be essential.
And from what I've read not having the adaptive suspension may be a bonus!

Is the suspension on non M sport versions the same as M Sport, assuming they don’t have adaptive suspension? From memory on the E86 the Sport versions had uprated suspension.
It’s seems on the E89 the M Sport is just a trim level?

No the suspension on the M sport and non M sport are not the same, the M sport suspension is firmer and also lowers the car approximately 10 mm

I wouldnt spend 11k on an 83000 mile car.
How long do you intend to keep it? If you put 10k miles on it, then try to move it on it will be near enough the 100k mark for an expensive to fix car, with no dealer warranty.
It would he hard to sell without losing too much money.
I would reccommend test driving a 20 or 28i Msport and see what you think, better resale prospects + with your budget you could get one with main dealer warranty etc.

Yeah my concern is more around resale. It is one previous owner and full BMWSH so would hope it would be in good shape, but re sale may be tricky.... albeit I am unlikely to put many miles on it at all, maybe 5k a year if that.
