Front Brake Pads E89 Z4 35IS

Post by Barley » Fri Mar 16, 2018 12:02 pm

I wonder if someone could give me some advise re getting new Front Brake Pads fitted to Z4 35IS

BMW cost is £145 fitted, 3rd party with BMW parts is higher due to BMW charging them a high price for parts.

Is there another option for non BMW parts that anyone would recommend, or better to stick with BMW parts. Car is 4 years old 50,000 miles, out of warranty but full BMW Service History.

Thanks

Any OE spec pads will be fine BMW don't make their own, not sure who makes the OEM pads
but mintex, ferodo, Padgid, Blue Print are all fine and considerably cheaper then from a main dealer

I think Textar make the OEM but I wouldn't recommend them over any of the ones mentioned above. Pagid have a good rep and at £25 are a bit of a steal for general day to day driving tbh.

Moving up in performance then something like Ferrodo DS2500 would handle very fast street driving or light track work. Performance Friction carbon metallic (0918.10) would be my top recommendation for it's combination of superb performance and virtually zero brake dust.

Yeps Textar make the pads I believe. They've got good initial bite as a softer pad but produce a lot of brake dust. However, if you're not taking it to the track they'll be just fine.
