I'm after a little bit of advice, I saw these on a 3 series and I thought they looked a lot better than the non illuminated ones I currently have. According to the listing they don't fit but I can't see a reason why they won't, I am more than happy to be corrected by more knowledgeable minds or consider other options.

It's your car mate, not my cup of tea.
Just be prepared to be attacked by the M squad as they don't like M fittings on non M cars

Yes, knew that would be the case, never understood their logic if I'm honest but I can take it.

Going back to your original question, these will no doubt be a different size which will be why they won’t probably fit. Fixings could be in a different place etc.....

Fixings are an easy problem to solve, just use a bit of 3M VHB tape. Just check length and width to make sure there's no overhang.

As for the M debate, I sort of get it. I get the fake M badge on the back can be seen as imitation and a means to pass off the car as something it's not. However when a 2.0l Sport comes with an M Sport steering wheel, M Sport suspension and M Sport seats... I don't see the harm in a set of M Sport door sills.

I have a M front bumper just because I like it better than both the pre and post facelift bumpers, not because I want to pass it off as an M model car.

That was my concern but toying with the idea of some kind of adhesive but not sure how well that would work.

That's pretty much how I see it.

It's funny how putting the M bumpers on are encouraged, but putting a M badge on is frowned upon!

Sorry OP for taking the subject off track.

Trust me 3M VHB is all you need, that's what my illuminated ones are on with.
