Retrofit Sat Nav

I would appreciate some help please.

I have just bought an E89 which has a beautiful Design Pure White leather interior but did not come with Sat Nav. I was pleased to understand that bluetooth was availible through the Radio BMW professional, however when I went to connect the phone nothing happens. So I looked on ebay and can see you can buy a second hand Sat Nav HU and a screen and the controller, can these simply be fitted into my car or is it more involved please?

I think this has been done but it’s a very expensive job which also involved coding once all the hardware had been fitted, it’s a lot easier to sell your car & buy one which has nav already fitted :?

Be prepared for rattles and unreliability if you do that. As Rob states, better to flog the car and buy one with Nav already fitted.

The e89 tech is very old now. Just use your mobile phone, frankly it outshines most car tech.

Oh and your car colour... its 'Deep Sea Blue' ... one of my favourites with the pure white design interior (extended leather and nappa leather seats..... awesome)

Thank you - it is a beautiful looking car, I have found an add on device which apparently gives Bluetooth function to the radio, so once installed I will let you know how effective it is. Having only just bought the car, I feel selling it at this stage is not really what I want to do.

Is it sat nav that you desire or the idrive pack with the screen and central control function?

If it is the latter then forget it and sell the car. If it is purely the sat nav then forget it and just drive your Zed and enjoy it. The way your car looks would be enjoyment enough for me but you get to actually drive it! Just go out in it and enjoy yourself.

Thank you - yes it's a real pleasure to drive.

I was told when I bought it that it had a bluetooth connection, but on further investigation it was discovered that there was in fact no bluetooth. So the dealer has very kindly fitted Fiscon which gives me the bluetooth connection for telephone and streaming music from my phone which is great as it all looks factory standard.

I have decided that your right about the Sat Nav and will simply run a wire into the dash cubby hole for the occasions when I do need one.

Thank yoou for all your help and suggestions :driving:

Glad you've got Bluetooth sorted.

And welcome to the forum by the way - your car is in a lovely colour combination.

I'm not quite sure about the wood, but there is at least one forum member who'll love it! :)
