35is: Replace exhaust tips. How?
Hello.
I have seen some pics of the exhaust off the car but I still haven't found an answer.
Are the OEM tips spotwelded? I like the stock sound actually but want to replace the tips.
Does anyone know the outer diameter of the pipe connteced to the tip?
Thinking about 90mm tips.
Thanks

Correct.
And Another question is if you need to remove the exhaust to replace just the tips?

Mine were cut off without removing bumper or boxes , then new ones welded on , took around 30mins for both sides , unsure of the sizes though the new ones i believe are 90mmPhilly_Sweden wrote: ↑Fri Mar 02, 2018 11:18 amCorrect.

I thought the two segments joined at the rear from a common manifold at the engine end? So do 1,3,5 and 2,4,6 feed different sides of the exhaust?
Why is the box on the right smaller than the one on the left?

They join in the middle so it makes no difference.step_change wrote: ↑Fri Mar 02, 2018 4:06 pm I thought the two segments joined at the rear from a common manifold at the engine end? So do 1,3,5 and 2,4,6 feed different sides of the exhaust?

Aren't the tips an interference fit and don't they just turn off?

Wouldn’t have thought they would cut where your top line is due to valve. Just grind back the spot welds.

I had the pipe cut back just short of the bypass pipe, the new tail pipes are then welded in place, all done without removing the bumper.
