Wheels/Tire combo question
I'm pretty newb when it comes to wheel/tires sizing.
I have a 2011 3.0 with 17" wheels square setup 225 wide.
Car is all stock.
Trying to figure out if I should upgrade to 18 or 19" wheels. I see the popular 19" setup but I'm thinking in getting a setup with thicker tire and as flush to the body as possible. I daily drive the car.
What do you think of my setup?
BMW 437M replicas rims in 18x8.5 ET35, 18x9.5 ET35
Michelin PSS 225/40/18, 255/35/18

Wheels/Tire combo question
After trying a good few different set ups on both my E89s id say the above were virtually the perfect numbers Re the alloys themselves but 225 40 on 8.5js & 255 35 on 9.5js are a size under unless your car is slammed .

Wheels/Tire combo question
Assuming not lowered & with E89s having a decent arch space then 235 40 or 225 45 fronts / 255 40 rear
Have you considered 19s ? With the right rubber there is little noticeable difference between 18inch + 19inch from a ride quality point

Wheels/Tire combo question
Thanks. Thanks. Yeah I'm considering 19"but recommended thickness is 35 front and 30 back and I'm affraid of the ride quality with that little tire. I think I read that 40 front in 19" might rub.
Also save couple hundreds $$ going 18" buy I don't want to regret it.

Well primarily your sports car actually looks like one as opposed to a coupe with 3 series wheels on
you stick to your 18s , ive tried both & 19s with non runflat 255 35 rears + 235 35 fronts means no deterioration in ride quality over stock 18inch wheels on runflats

Wheels/Tire combo question
There was no need for the My question was for information only. I knew people liked the look of 19s and just wondered if there were other reasons to have them, too.mr wilks wrote: ↑Thu Dec 21, 2017 8:07 amWell primarily your sports car actually looks like one as opposed to a coupe with 3 series wheels on

Your answer - that 19s on non-RFTs ride the same (i.e. as badly) as 18s on RFTs - seems to be a high price to pay for that look.
Factor in 19s' cracking rims and the price becomes ... er ... even higher.

I ordered the 19" last night :p
So now, tire size...Look like 235/35/10 front is a given. What about the back? I see that the recommended setup is 265/30/19. 255/35/19 will work good as well?

Throwing something odd-ball in, For summer tyres, currently Michelin PS4, I'm running 18" 8j ET30 rims with 245/35R18 tyre & 18" x 9j ET40 rims with 275/35R18 with 9j tyres my 35iS and absolutely loving it. I think you may struggle with 275s with a 9.5j ET35
