So what information, if any, does the Carly ask for to register battery, or does the system just recognise what has been attached?

No you need to tell it some parameters, certainly the amp hours and type (AGM, or Lead acid ) not sure what else

I've just ordered Carly & noticed this, not sure if it will rescue a failing ebrake though?

No probably not, but it will enable you to replace the rear brake pads

Ok - sooooo.....installed new 800amp battery this afternoon.
Carly reads what battery the car is currently registered for (700amp AGM) and offers the option to replace with the same size battery or change for something else.
I selected change and then selected 800amp AGM from the drop down and selected register......and nothing happened!
Ive emailed Carly and they say they are aware of the issue and will roll out an update in the next couple of days.....their support is excellent. The battery registration function has just had a major overhaul and I think this is just a small software error.
I then went back and selected to register the same type of battery and this worked fine. So my car is now set to charge for a brand new 700amp AGM battery rather than an 800amp AGM.....Hopefully the update will fix this in the next days....

Carly is not needed to replace the rear brake pads.
I replaced our pads and discs a few months ago and have not had any issues since.
Only problem I had while fitting was the new pad sensors would not let me reset the service interval. Seeing as the old ones were hardly touched I cleaned them up refitted and the system reset after that.

Still easier than winding the pistons back in manually though.
