Tyres for 18'
I have the standard bridgestone run flat tyres fitted onto my e89 28i.
Front 225, rears 255. I've been looking to replace these with PS4 for both. I check black circles and they only have the 225/40R/R18 for the PS4 available, none for 225/35/R18. Check on michelin's website and they exist.
Am I crazy, or are we in a PS4 shortage? If I'm not able to get hold of these tyres, then what else?

Assuming you are meaning 255 35 18 not 225 35 18 ? If so then go for 245 40 ( rear ) & enjoy improvement in every aspectsuperdot wrote: ↑Sun Dec 09, 2018 11:00 pm I have the standard bridgestone run flat tyres fitted onto my e89 28i.

Yes meant the 255 35 18. Will that work out fine on the same wheel? being daftmr wilks wrote: ↑Sun Dec 09, 2018 11:02 pmAssuming you are meaning 255 35 18 not 225 35 18 ? The Michelin PS4 245/40x18 are about £50 cheaper too. Good saving for 10mm of rubber.

superdot, just buy BMW recommended sizes from an outlet that will fit them and guarantee them.

Fair comment. But we're talking size.

I know so you're suggesting it's OK to do your own thing regarding brand & function of tyres but with sizes you must follow bmw guidance?

Nah, just different points of view. mr wilks may well be right, but I'm cautious about changing tyre profiles.

Hardly , just enthusiasts sharing 2 different points of view neither of which could be categorically 100% correct

Op I would trust Mr Wilks.
He has had many z4s and many different wheel and tyre brands and size setups!

Well, there are a few points here, I will brush over the technical aspects and merits of each tyre, and ask are you aware characteristics and ratings change with profile.
Car manufacturers change alegencies on a whim because they are paid by tyre companies to use their tyres, "recommended" tyres makes tyre companies a lot on money. At the top of the scale you have tyres developed made exclusively for a certain car at great expense, .that makes money for many years to come for tyre manufacturers. And finally we all have much experience with different cars and tyres down the years, so live a little, nothing is right or wrong,
