Too high a tyre pressure = darty/twitchy handling.

Drop the pressure down to 36 on the rears.
On your 2002 BMW 3 SERIES M3, perhaps, but not necessarily on a Z4.
Mate I ran 33/36 on my 2007 Z4 Coupe 3.0si with no issues.

I run 34 all round on my M3 (due to having CSL wheels with CSL spec Michelin’s). :driving:

I’ve noticed this recently. I think it’s the greasy roads as we transition from summer to wonder

i dont notice a twitchy back end due to my very twitchy front end.. vile runflats - i have dropped my all round pressure to 30 psi to help compensate for the solid sidewalls and the stupid massive road calmers in burton - staffordshire county council want stuffing for the millions of cameras and road humps.. :headbang:

Out of interest all you guys who have ditched the runflats, what do you do if you get a puncture? Do you just accept calling someone out to fix it or do you carry some squirty stuff etc? Thinking of ditching mine......

Mmm ... not much point posting on an E89 forum, then.

Don’t have to drive an E89 to post on a Z4 forum.

We all drive BMW’s at the end of the day. :P

simple question.. when was the last time you got a proper all out puncture.. ?

I have bought one of the puncture repair kits available on ebay (the type where you ream out a small hole and then glue in an insert) and carry a small 12v compressor. Also carry a can of squirty gunk in case all else fails. All of this fits in a football boot bag so doesn't take up much space.

Had a puncture in my original run flats. On anything other than a very smooth road it feels like you are smashing your alloys to bits anyway.

Do it!!

My original E85 has a puncture soon after I bought it which hastened a full change... in the following 40k miles fortunately never had one but a can of gunk & a paid up recovery service from nationwide gave peace of mind

Have had 2 in the last 2 years. Both in rear non-runflat tyres with 6mm+ tread. Neither was repairable.

1st was 5" bolt (& washer). 200 yards from tyre repairer.
2nd was split near edge of tread caused by road debris. Slow puncture.
Carry gunk & compressor. Useful for neither puncture.
Runflat would not have survived #1.

Bloody bad luck, sounds like a dangerous place, wife got one a few years ago, but I haven't had one in donkeys years. Luck of the draw I suppose. :(
