I had two good quotes come through this year for the renewal.
The motorway trudging 2.0 Tdi Snoozefest on 30k miles per year was £100 cheaper at renewal, so I don't get to bitch about rewarding loyalty.
The Zed (with CK) had gone up £60.
Now there was a change of address, to a similarly pleasant post code, so I thought I'd do the comparison sites and the current insurers.
esure first and £25 off the SEAT for going multicar - so that's £125 less than last year already.
Then, £80 cheaper for the Z compared to CK, although excess went up from £250 to £500.
Told them I'd ring back if the other insurer could not beat it. I rang back in 20 mins.
Unfortunately CK could not get anywhere near on the Diseasel price and fair enough. They don't specialise in high mileage middle of the road stuff, and I know esure were already a good price.
What was disappointing was that when I told them of the best price from esure for the zed, they said the underwriter would need proof of the other quote.
I told them to go on a comparison site, it would be easy enough, but no.
Fair enough, I suppose they don't do the legwork for a premium with little profit ( apart from the 100% profit if we don't claim )
So thanks to CK for last year's good price and I'm sorry your underwriters aren't as enthusiastic to get my business this year.
PS I blame everyone on the forum that went through CK and has had a smash this year, It's all your fault.
Here's to another year's incident free motoring for all.

Re: Now both cars with Esure
My renewal last year was a bit of a fiasco as we were only just into a new year with the X Type when I got the Zed. SWMBO sorted it all out as I was travelling on business - I have no idea how much extra she paid, but I suspect it was a lot as the insurer didn't really do high performance cars.
The renewal on the Zed came through this morning - £485
Went to see the Meercats - £200 with Admiral
Admiral it is then!

Just sight of screenshots for your quotes is enough. If we're going to an insurer and telling them they need to reduce their rate (sometime significantly) to keep a client they'll want to make sure they are not being played.Talksthetorque wrote:...when I told them of the best price from esure for the zed, they said the underwriter would need proof of the other quote.

I'm sorry we've lost you this year.

Re: Now both cars with Esure
It was a phone quote, and has now been accepted.
From what your lady said it was below your 'minimum premium' anyway.
Understand that you can't get all the business on cost and no complaints about service during year.
Thanks.

Insurance can be depressing for different reasons. Cheapest quote so far is Kwik-fit at £115, but, and here is the depressing bit the best policy offer is from Saga at £134
Male 50+ yrs. 9+ yrs NCB, no points, cheap postcode, garaged, 5k miles P/A, fully comp, £250 total excess, SDP & commute, windscreen cover, uninsured driver cover, get-you-home cover, replacement car. Not really worth shopping around after that. But Saga Jeez
