Question about run-flat tyres

Post by sp3ctre » Wed Nov 05, 2008 10:23 am

Tim,

There has been a question raised about whether insurance companies need to know it you swap the run flat tyres to non run-flats. I have done this and so have many others, for cost and comfort reasons.

Where do Chris Knott stand on this issue?

I had to pay about £15.00 extra I think it was, I thought If I had an accident the insurance Co would renage on any claim so better safe than sorry.

We are fine with most mods but we always need to be told about them!

So you would class normal tyres as a "mod"? Some people on this forum have had BMW fit normal tyres instead of runflats before teking delivery. It seems to be a very grey area with insurance companies.

Tbh, just to be on the safe side, declare them. There shouldn't be any increase.
