In terms of an upper age limit? There is none to speak of - we quote drivers up to age 99. Not sure we've tried on a Z4 before though ;)

Not even close to 99 but approaching 67, I have to make plans.
At what point (age) do policies start to become loaded ?

Round about 70 with traditional underwriting you could expect to see premiums begin to rise. We've never let that bother us though as we'll always try and undercut any quote you've been given.

Is it worth becoming an established customer with one insurer pre 70?

If you're only ever using mainstream insurers the advice is normally to stay where you are if you're in the older bracket. However, as brokers we can often find alternatives that make it worth switching away.

Well, I'm 54 with a clean licence and 9 years NCB. I'm picking up a Zed this Fri and need insurance for mainly weekend use and in any case <5000 mile/year. Chris Knott told me they couldn't let me use the 9 years NCB on a second car so quoted me £550. I went to eSure who offer multi car policies where not only can I share my NCB on both cars, but they give an an extra 10℅ discount on the second car. Net result is £178/year.

If you haven't had a claim in the last year we can definitely mirror your bonus across. Please could you PM me your name and postcode and I'll take a specific look at this. It doesn't sound right.

best,
Nick

Gave Chris Knot another chance this year, and I'm pleased to report they were able beat my best quote! Thanks :)

Wanted to ask, if I change to non run-flats (as have so many people on here) does this need to be declared to the insurer?

Thanks again

Thanks for switching robbee. We would need to tell the insurer even if it doesn't result in a premium change. Just call or email us when you're doing it and we'll make sure they know.

Hello Nick/Chris Knott

I will be taking delivery of a Z4 soon and need a quote. I have a very competetive one but saw your ad on the forum.

Quick question, does your policy cover driving other cars on a 3rd party basis?

It is available if you're over 25 but you'll need to ask for this extension to the cover as it will narrow down the number of companies quoting. It doesn't cost any more to have the Driving Other Cars (DOC) extension.

To quote we'd need you to have at least 12 months experience of a vehicle with similar performance to the Z4 (preferably rear wheel drive too).

Best,
Nick

I meet the criteria apart from previous experience of driving a high performance vehicle - I am 56 years old and have been driving for 30+ years. I own a BMW Z4 3.0si Sport. Chris Knott quoted me £906.51 :o - I therefore searched elsewhere and am now insured with 1st Central for £372.77. :D

Yes, sorry about that. The insurers on the panel do require experience of the power and of course it's RWD too. Next year we'll be perfect for you but just not this year I'm afraid.
