£4500 cheapest quote

Post by RLiu » Tue Nov 27, 2012 7:02 pm

I am 24 living, working and commuting in birmingham. 4 years ncb. entirely clean licence.

Used the 3 usual price comparison sites for full comp. Each only compared only around 16 companies as many did not offer a quote to under 25s. :headbang: :headbang:

Then put my exact same details in but moving my DOB forward a few months so i was 25. £1200 cheapest...over £3000 for a few months! :headbang: :headbang:

Unfortunately i am an idiot and bought and insured my first car 3 weeks before my birthday...i may have to declare the car off the road for 3 weeks then reinsure when it is due this year.

I didn't think it would be this much as my current insurer only charged me £150 extra over a focus 1.6 2 months ago for the rest of the policy.

Ideas?

I find the meerkats and opera singers can't insure my car for anywhere near the levels of Admiral - have you tried them?

As above Admiral / confused.com

Also try other companies recommended on here.. but Admiral do seem to be the overall best for zeds.

That dose seem ludicrous there must be cheaper options..
My little blue zed is in lots of bits. With lots of things started and not many finished! I may have found the limits of my time and ability!!

Declaring it off the road isn't much of a problem as i can get to work by public transport but having already missed out on the last meet due to work i would hate to miss out on the meets arranged for chrimbo/new year as effectively i wont have my car for january :(

I think I'm with Admiral.

Then again I'm 32 now but it's still more expensive than it ever has been for my Z in the last 4 years. Goes up every year. Lame. It's not even that fast a car, and it's probably the safest car I've had too.

Weird.

I am with SwiftCover (AXA), On a Z4c 3.0si they quoted £492 with 7 years NCB, 31 y/o and my 29 y/o wife on the policy with a couple of non-fault accidents. No one else came close on price.

The previous year I had a Focus 2.0 TDI insured with them for more money!

Wow. I am 21, just bought my Zed back in febuary, 3 years NCD/NCB and my fully comp insurance is £834 per year with 200 excess. I am the main driver with just my dad on it as a other driver. I have no driving penalties.

Tweek every little thing on the questions and it'll drop bit by bit. Hell, put your grandparents on it if they have a clean liscence. Itll drop it loads.

Hope this helps,

As above:
Can you put other people on your policy (older with good NCB). We do this to drop both our son's premiums quite considerably.
