e46 sport seats in e85

Post by jamie_z4 » Thu May 04, 2017 11:04 am

hi all, just to show you a cheap upgrade for the e85 owners with the plain flat/non sport seats -

as you know the propper e85/e86 sport seats fetch big money and the e46 sport seats can be had for less than 200 quid now.

Electrics are all plug & Play and they bolt in exactly same place, no seatbelt holster but im sure you could fabricate someting.

they dont sit any higher in the car as i know this has been said before on other forums

id have fitted these to mine however i like my bum warmers and these are non-bum warming variety so i am selling to another forum member to do the same

Anyway, just thought i'd show you all

seat base height of original seat in relation to centre console/carpet visible

All i was doing is showing they fit and that they are no higher - e46 sport seats are even cheaper than M3 seats - most people dont want to sell just the front seats of an m3 interior which usually fetch around £400. a full sport interior can be had for £200.

this is what i was getting at. The e46 SPORT seats as shown in my seatbelt pics don't actually sit any higher than the electric non-sport seats in the Z4 originally

I dont want to sit any higher than i did already

Fair enough I didn't realise this

The standard E46 Seats do look better than the standard Z seats though so a good upgrade

cheers mate. They are peanuts now, just a good alternative to the 'deck chairs' fitted by BMW to the Z4 - god knows why they made seats without any support in a 'sports car'

Ones that people can actually buy, unless as per usual, your comment is irrelevant.

Sports seats should have been standard IMO, especially on the bigger engine models. Zed's weren't exactly cheap new.

Wonder how the E46 M3 Convertible seats fit?

indeed! M3 vert seats are very simmlar in design to the normal sport seats but with the added bonus of the seatbelt buckle being in the headrest.

Ive just fitted e46 m3 seats to my e46 330cd - the leather is a lot nice n softer being nappa too.
