Brake Force Display Coding

Post by Scooba_Steve » Mon Feb 27, 2017 11:21 pm

Following on from another thread. I have a facelift E85 and would like to activate flashing brake lights for the BFD as I think this is a more effective method than the fogs coming on.

Current LCZ dump:

PIN38_BFD aktiv BRAKE FORCE DISPLAY WITH RIGHT OUTER TAIL LIGHT (DEPENDS ON CHASSIS)
PIN49_BFD aktiv BRAKE FORCE DISPLAY WITH LEFT INNER TAIL LIGHT / LEFT REAR FOG LIGHT (DEPENDS ON CHASSIS)

Anyone have any more detail to help me out - trail and error would be very time consuming, plus I'd have to find a road to keep ragging it to a stop on...
I assume that I need to activate the Stage 3 and pin 5&10 (but can check this with WDS), and disable stage 2.
Anyone know the difference between deceleration sensors?

I've wanted to do this with my Carly app, tried a few times without success and don't have the time right now for extensive trial and error! Sorry I can't help!

Thanks anyway - while Carly seems quite good I do like to see the code. It seems straightforward but wondered if anyone had actually done it on E85/6. I've seen it on the E46s and it's pretty effective in my mind.

Brave man reversing toward the camera

I *think* the options are different for facelift?

Jingle: once I get sorted I'll let you know how it's done, though I plan to disable fogs as BFD and make all 3 brake lights flash.

First step is to get NCS working on Windows 10...

Same options on all z4's and e46's . I do that quite often on various bmw's.

Hi guys, I'm not sure this is the right post to ask that but I was wondering if there is someone that knows how to change code the rear fog light using ncs expert. I've it on the right side but I want it on the left side or on both. I know that I have to change the bulb on the left but I've no idea how to code it :(

Any new info on activating the BFD on our E85? I too would like to code it to FLASH instead of just light up during hard braking.

Thanks!

I just sent a "plea for help" to Carly Support, asking for additional information concerning the "Brake Lights" section of the coding functions. The descriptions for the E85 functions are just about non-existent. By comparison, the same section for the E89 appears well documented, and contains the information I think we're all seeking. I'll post if anything useful is provided.

I'm sure this isn't an option for the e85/e86? Not sure you can do it even with NCS or other "advanced" software in comparison to (easy to use) Carly.

I got this far:

I think with some fiddling I could figure out the options but was happy with the flashing centre.
