is there a whippy quick release mechanism that I could purchase? I just don't want to leave it on the car when parked and have it stolen by a speculator

And as a bonus you can pick it up later when it eventually comes down.

My car is insured on an agreed valuation basis. Should I up it? My whippy is immaculate and in perfect working order!

I used to have a Whippy on my E36 convertible and someone stole it - they actually broke the antenna amplifier as they removed it. I got new parts supplied through insurance, but never actually fitted the Whippy - I went with a stubby after that

It was the first thing I removed when I got my Z4 and I also removed the one from my girlfriend’s R50 Mini

So now I have 2 spares - one brand new in BMW packaging

Unfortunately I have a £1000 excess on my policy so if someone stole mine it would not be covered. :? Still who knows if they keep increasing in value I might be OK. :(

My wife and I are heading for Phuket/Bangkok on Tuesday. Looks as though we are in for some hot weather! 😎

Don't be tempted to smuggle back cheap counter fit whippy look a likes. The forum police :police: will soon find out and be around your house with the hacksaws.

And have a good one.

Wow! Never thought of that, but I certainly won’t be tempted. I’ll stick to the fake Rolex, Patek Philippe etc. Too late now but maybe I should have taken some OEMs with me and set up a stall. 😉

From experience of the area I have no doubt someone will be able to sell you a copy of a whippy, or as they say out there it's not a copy it is a genuine imitation. Enjoy.
